Tea & Symphony Chamber Music Series

Sunday, February 14 and Sunday, March 14, 2010

The Tea & Symphony Chamber Music Series showcases world-renowned student performers from The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Performances will be held in the grand center hall of The Highlands. Both concerts will be held from 2-4pm, with Premium Estate Teas to be served by Jaya Teas during the intermissions.
Reservations are required for Tea & Symphony and can be made by calling 215-641-2687.

Antiquates Auction

Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28, 2010, 2PM-6PM

Antique furnishings, paintings, jewelry, antique rugs and more. Presented by IFI Services, with special feature commentary by Philadelphia rug connoisseur Jerry Sorkin. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Highlands Mansion and Gardens.

Community Day

Sunday, May 23, 2010, 2PM-4PM

This family friendly day will have activities for children of all ages. Tours of the mansion and gardens, along with light refreshments will be available. This special community event will take place from 2PM-4PM and is FREE to the public.

The Highlands will host a range of activities; reservations are recommended, 215-641-2687.

Summer Symphony

Sunday, June 6 (Rain Date - Sunday, June 13)

The Ambler Symphony will perform in the Sinkler Garden, where guests may bring a picnic, blanket and a chair to enjoy the performance. The gardens will open at 5PM, tours of the mansion will be available from 5PM-6PM. The concert will begin at 6:30PM.

Admission to the program is $10 for Adults and $5 for Children (under age 13). The program is best appreciated by children over the age of six. Reservations are required by June 2 and can be placed by calling 215-641-2687.

Golf Outing

June TBD

Come and enjoy an afternoon of golf on local private courses. Hors d'oeuvre and awards party to follow. Non-golfers are welcome to the after golf festivities for a small donation. Players will tee off at pre-assigned tee times, playing a "Step Scramble" format. For more information and registration, please call Chip Sheppard, 215-620-9819.

Reading, Writing and Talking History

July 12-16

Heat up the past…become a history explorer…investigate primary sources like diaries, letters, buildings, photos, artifacts, and more. Turn your investigations and discoveries into writing. Nature Journaling

If you like to draw and write, this workshop is for you! Discover new ways to write about the world around you. Summer Fun

August 2 through August 6, 2010

relay racepaperAn exciting day camp that makes history fun! Campers will take part in historic games played by Colonists and Native Americans. Campers will learn about nature by exploring the 44-acre historic site and the restored 1920’s greenhouse. A fieldtrip day to other local historic sites is also included. Craft projects, games and much more are in store.

Craft Show

October 1, 2 and 3, 2010

craft showcraft showArtists display their crafts throughout the mansion and heated tent. Fabric, pottery, hand-bags, jewelry and fabric art are some of the crafts that will be for sale. Admission charged. Saturday hours are 10AM-5PM and Sunday hours are 10AM-4PM.

A Preview Party will be held Friday, October 1 from 6PM-9PM for guests to shop in advance of the show’s weekend hours. Reservation are required for the Preview Party; please call, 215-641-2687, to request an invitation.

Pumpkins

Sunday, October 24, 7PM-9PM

witchrhinoElaborately carved pumpkins are on display to welcome Halloween. The cost will be $10 per car for Highlands Members and $15 per car for non-Highlands members. All proceeds benefit The Highlands Historical Society, which exists to educate our community about the history and evolution of a Pennsylvania country estate.

Art Show

Jaldy Gifford, Hunt BreakfastThe Hunt Breakfast is the oldest fundraising event for The Highlands; proceeds from the event are used for the ongoing maintenance, restoration and preservation of the Highlands Mansion and historic grounds, as well as for The Highlands Historical Society’s myriad educational activities and programs. A delicious Sunday morning brunch, drinks, live music, raffle and auction. Reservations are required for The Hunt Breakfast.

Old-Fashioned Holiday

Welcome the 2010 holiday season by celebrating traditions of the past. Children will have the opportunity to try their hand making 19th century holiday crafts and sampling seasonal treats. Reservations are recommended.
