Group Tours



Set amidst 44 acres of rolling hills and formal gardens, The Highlands Mansion and Gardens offers a glimpse into the past lives of an historic house and garden. Lived in from 1796-1970, this home has seen many types of residents and been faced with many changes, including additions to the house and the creation of the garden.

Tours focus on the architecture and history of the house and garden.

Tours are $4/person for groups larger than 10. Otherwise, $5/person $4 for seniors

First lived in c. 1796 by the Anthony Morris family, it was used by them as a grand summer residence for 12 years. Next it was lived in by the Sheaffs family for more than 100 years. In the 20th c., Caroline Sinkler lived here and restored the garden. She gave the house to her niece and nephew, Emily and Nicholas Roosevelt in 1941. The Roosevelts left The Highlands to the Commonweatlh of PA.
