How to Take a Screenshot on iPhone X

Without a Home button, how do you take a screenshot on your iPhone? Or do you need to make a screen in pdf scan app? Previous models of iPhone took a screenshot when you clicked both the Home button and Sleep/Wake button (now considered the Side button). But taking a screenshot on iPhone X is slightly different, though not different enough to make it any more of a hassle. With iOS 11, a preview of your screenshot appears in the lower left corner immediately after taking the shot. You can then immediately mark up the image or even delete it if the screenshot was taken by mistake. So we'll cover all the ways you can edit a screenshot you've just taken on your iPhone X. Here’s how to take a screenshot on iPhone X and how to edit it with iOS 11.

I take a lot of screenshots, so when I got the iPhone X that was one of the first things I re-learned how to do. Plus, iPhone screenshots got an upgrade with iOS 11. The ability to immediately edit and share a screenshot you’ve just taken makes a lot of sense, and the built-in shortcut saves you the extra step of going into Photos to find the image. First, we’ll cover taking your screenshot on iPhone X; then we’ll go over the options you have afterward.

How to Take a Screenshot on iPhone X

- Click and release both the Side button and Volume Up button.

This will take the screenshot. You’ll see a smaller preview of the screenshot immediately appear in the lower-left corner of the screen. You can swipe left over the screenshot to dismiss it, which will automatically save the shot to your Photos app. Or you can tap on the screenshot to edit it, mark it up, share it, and more. We’ll go over that below.

How to Quickly Edit, Markup & Share Your Screenshot

- After you take your screenshot, tap the small preview of it that appears in the lower-left corner of your screen.

- You can drag the corners of the image (frame in blue) to crop the screenshot however you like.

- At the bottom, there is a pen, marker, pencil, eraser, selector tool, and color. You can use those tools to mark up the image.

- If you make a mistake at any point, the arrows in the top right corner of the screen allow you to undo and redo what you’ve changed.

- The plus sign in the lower right corner allows you to add text, a signature, or a magnifier to your image.

- The plus sign also allows you to add a square, circle, oval, or arrow to the image. When you add a shape, more options will appear at the bottom of the screen; the first one lets you change the color of the shape and the second lets you change the style (outline, filled-in, bold border, etc).

- When you’re done editing your photo, you can tap the Share icon in the lower-left corner of the screen. This will bring the regular Share menu; from there you can share the image via Messages, Email, social media, and more.

- When you’re done, tap Done in the upper left corner. Two options will pop up: Save to Photos and Delete Screenshots. Choose whether you want to keep the screenshot(s) you’ve edited or deleted them.

It's good to note that if you take multiple screenshots in a row, you can click on the preview after taking your last screenshot to mark them all up.
