About the event
Springfield Township High School’s Transition Pathways (18-21 year old Program)
STHS's Transition Pathways students participate in work based learning that aligns to their individual transition plans. Students work to foster soft-skill development in the areas of post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. Our program partners with local community organizations to develop and build opportunities for students to generalize and build skills in their own neighborhoods. We seek to expand and develop relationships within our community to match student skills, interests, and offer a variety of experiences.
At the Highlands we participate in biweekly work based learning. There are a variety of recurring groundskeeping tasks (weeding, picking up sticks, etc) and recurring indoor maintenance tasks (sweeping, dusting) that can be completed during each visit. In addition our Transition Pathways students will work with our district job coach to complete special assignments as needed for special events and seasonal needs. The Highlands and our partnership with Dana has been an extremely valuable addition to our partnerships this Spring and is one that we hope to continue for years to come. Our students look forward to volunteering at this hidden gem in our community!
